Up 'N' Over Agility Club

Of Southeast Michigan

NADAC INFORMATION

The NADAC is the abbreviation of the The North American Dog Agility Council. NADAC was formed in 1993 to provide North American dogs and their handlers with a fast, safe and enjoyable form of the sport of dog agility. NADAC sanctions agility trials sponsored by affiliated clubs.
If you haven't tried NADAC before, come on out and give it a try. NADAC is a great place to start a new dog, work out problems, or run an experienced dog that likes to play agility - why not try something a bit different? NADAC is a very relaxed, fun venue to play in with your dog. Courses are flowing and more open than other venues. Refusals are not counted at any level, there are only 6 weaves in novice regular and no table or teeter at any level. All contact equipment is rubberized. If your dog misses a contact, you can go back and train that contact then continue the course (you will not qualify but it is a great opportunity to reinforce your contacts). For veteran and inexperienced dogs, there are lower jump heights and classes with no jumps at all. Jumpers in NADAC does not have weaves, only jumps and an occasional tunnel. Chances is a numbered mini-course with a distance type challenge. Tunnelers is all tunnels, weavers is just tunnels and weaves, Touch-n-Go is contacts and tunnels.

You are invited to the Up 'n Over NADAC agility trial at All Dogs Can in Lapeer, Michigan on June 22 & 23.   This is a great venue to make your agility debut, work on contact issues, build up speed, or maybe let the older dog come out and play on some courses with no jumps.   All contact equipment is rubberized. Training in the ring is allowed in NADAC for a total of 60 seconds (you will not qualify of course). Jumpers in NADAC does not have weaves, only jumps and an occasional tunnel. For veteran and inexperienced dogs, there are lower jump heights and classes with no jumps at all. Tunnelers is all tunnels; weavers is just tunnels, hoops, and weaves; Touch-n-Go is just contacts, hoops, and tunnels. The entry fee for all classes is $13 per run, plus we offer senior, junior, and multiple dog discounts. We will be accepting day of show entries @ $15 per run if the trial does not fill. NADAC offers veteran and junior handler classes too. Premium will be available soon.
Dogs have to be registered with NADAC to play.  www.nadac.com  New this year, NADAC now allows grandfathering in from other venues.  Meaning if you are at a high level of competition you can transfer over to NADAC and continue to run at the higher level of competition. See the NADAC website for further details.
If you have any questions or would like a premium emailed to you, please email me privately. I will post again when the premium is available!
Feel free to pass along the information to anyone that might be interested.

NADAC UPDATE:

*Reminder** UNO AKC Trial is next weekend - June 7, 8 & 9!  Please plan to attend at least one day even if you are not entered.  Members who are entered in Master/Excellent should plan to be there early to help with set-up.  Members not entered should get there by 11 for lunch and to help with the later classes.  Members should help with course building for all classes.  We have a great course builder, Mandy, but help is needed.  Even if you cannot help with big equipment, you can help with bars and jumps or at least plan to help with the other class jobs. The more people helping the better things move along and easier it is for everyone.
NADAC Trial - June 22 & 23 @ All Dogs Can - I will have entry forms at the AKC trial.  You can give me your entry at the AKC trial too!
Due to some health issues, Robin Carberry is unable to judge.  Fortunately Sarah Fix is able to come and judge for us!  Also there are a couple of new things you should know about NADAC:
Grandfathering - As of January 1, 2019.  NADAC allows the grandfathering in from other venues.  Meaning if you are a higher level of competition you can transfer over to NADAC at the equivalent level and continue to run at the higher level of competition.  You can enter trials at the higher level now and submit the necessary forms to NADAC at a later date.  Go to the NADA website for further information.  www.nadac.com/grandfathering-submission/
Intro - We will be offering Intro classes at our trial this year. Intro is for very new dogs and handlers and dogs or handlers who cannot run a full course. From the NADAC website:  The Intro level will be a shorter course than Novice. The only Intro level class with weaves will be Intro Weavers and it will have one set of 6 poles. No other classes will have weaves in them. The Intro level will have no tunnel/contact discriminations. The Intro level is a full titling level with the basic titles at 30 points
Looking forward to seeing everyone next weekend!
Maureen
